Patrick McGuinness is a poet, novelist, translator and academic, and professor of French and Comparative Literature at Oxford University and a Fellow of St Anne’s College. His first novel, The Last Hundred Days, was longlisted for the Man Booker, and won the Writers’ Guild Award for fiction and the Wales Book of the Year. His memoir Other People’s Countries won the Duff Cooper Prize, and his second novel, Throw Me to the Wolves, won the Encore Award. He has written three collections of poetry, most recently Blood Feather, and has written and edited a number of scholarly books on French and Francophone literature. He is also the editor of the two-volume Penguin Book of French Short Stories.
