Did you know that it is possible to die of a broken heart? Or that the heart not only responds to emotions, but creates them? Join Prof Sian Harding for a revelatory tour of this amazing organ.

Your heart is a miracle in motion, a marvel of construction unsurpassed by any human-made creation. It beats 100,000 times every day—if you were to live to 100, that would be more than 3 billion beats across your lifespan.

Now science is opening up the mysteries of the heart, revealing the poetry in motion within the machine. New technologies like ultrafast imaging, gene editing, and AI are transforming our understanding of the heart – with crucial consequences for health and wellbeing.

Imperial College professor and world-leading cardiovascular researcher Sian Harding joins us for a journey into the new science of the heart.

You’ll discover how the heart can shape our emotions, how to avoid heart disease, and why it can be so hard to repair a damaged heart. And you’ll hear how cutting-edge technologies are leading to new solutions to the worldwide scourge of heart disease.
