Slavoj Žižek Turns 75 – A Celebration

Live In Conversation With Ash Sarkar

Join the rockstar philosopher and revolutionary Slavoj Žižek for a 75th birthday celebration of his life and thought. Expect dialectics, psychoanalysis, and cake.

Erudite and comic, ironic and profound, philosopher Slavoj Žižek has travelled into territory where few of us dare to tread – and as he approaches his 75th birthday he shows no signs of becoming less provocative.

In this very special birthday celebration we’ll delve deep into his life story and intellectual journey. From his life and education in the former Yugoslavia under Soviet rule, where his master’s thesis was denounced by the authorities for being ‘not Marxist enough’ and he fought to democratise Slovenia and defend human rights, to his current position as one of the 21st century’s most renowned public intellectuals, this is a one-of-a-kind glimpse into the makings of the man widely known as ‘the most dangerous philosopher in the West’.

In conversation with writer and broadcaster Ash Sarkar, we’ll explore his spiritual as well as philosophical journey, exploring his reflections on and respect for Christiani thought. And we’ll hear capture his thoughts on the state of the world and our prospects for the future. What does he think about AI, chatbots, and the other new technologies of our age? Is there hope left for humankind in an age of impending climate catastrophe? And what does quantum theory have to say about dialectical materialism?

Discover the answer to all, some, or none of these questions at this birthday party like no other.
