Oxford psychologist  and mindfulness pioneer Mark Williams and meditation teacher Danny Penman join us with a lesson in how to reclaim your life in a chaotic world.

There are moments in life that decide your fate. They ripple into the future and dictate how you experience the world in the moments that follow; either positive and uplifting, dark and chaotic, or flat and dull.

What if you could recognise these moments before they seized control of your life? What if you could use them to set sail for a better future? What if all moments, big and small, could be harnessed this way?

Oxford Psychologist Mark Williams co-developed mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) – clinically proven to treat anxiety, stress, depression, exhaustion and enhance overall quality of life. Together, Mark and meditation teacher Dr Danny Penman have spread the power of mindfulness across the globe with their million-copy bestseller Mindfulness: Finding Peace in a Frantic World and many other books, courses and films.

Now they join How To Academy to teach us the foundations of a deeper mindfulness technique: focusing on a subtle aspect of mindfulness known as vedana – the moment ahead of the formation of a feeling or emotion – which defines your emotional response. By becoming aware of and learning to engage with the moment a feeling tone is created, you will be able to alter your response and take greater control over your life once again.

Praise for Mark Williams and Danny Penman’s Deeper Mindfulness:

‘This book walks you gently through the beautiful, messy process of being human, and teaches you how and why all can be well.’  – Kenneth Branagh

‘They’ve done it again, read this book as if your life depended on it.’  – Ruby Wax
