As a co-founder of Ms. Magazine, Gloria Steinem demonstrated a unique gift for offering hope and inspiring action – and to this day her words continue to serve as a source of guidance, humour and unity for people around the world.

As the Emmy and BAFTA winning star of Westworld and The Line of Duty, alongside a cinematic slate as diverse as the Academy Award winning Crash and blockbuster Solo: a Star Wars Story, Thandie Newton is one of the most accomplished British actresses of her generation. As an activist and philanthropist, she has campaigned tirelessly to end violence against women and girls, and her TED talk exploring the role of selfhood and the bonds that connect us has been viewed over 3 million times.

Gloria Steinem is a writer, lecturer, editor, political activist and feminist organiser. She is the author of many international bestsellers and has received multiple awards for her writing, including the Penney-Missouri Journalism Award, the Front Page and Clarion awards and the Lifetime Achievement in Journalism Award from the Society of Professional Journalists. In 2013, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama.

Emmy-winning actress and star of Crash, Line of Duty and HBO’s Westworld.

Thandie Newton stars as Maeve Milly in HBO’s critically acclaimed series Westworld, for which she won the 2018 Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series and numerous other awards. She also recently starred in the acclaimed BBC 1 drama Line of Duty. Other credits include Half a Yellow Sun, The Pursuit of Happyness and her West End stage debut, Death and the Maiden.

Alongside hosting How To Academy’s live programmes and podcast, she presents a cultural show on Times Radio and interviews on-stage at a number of other major literary events. She is the host of The Klosters Forum Podcast series and has written for the Radio Times, the Evening Standard and TLS. Before going freelance she worked for 8 years at BBC Newsnight, as Planning Editor and as a Producer / Filmmaker.
