How to Overcome Addictive Behaviour

Henrietta Bowden-Jones in conversation with Hannah MacInnes

Neuroscientist and psychiatrist Henrietta Bowden-Jones is the UK’s foremost expert on addictive behaviour. She joins us to explore the underlying causes of addictive behaviour and some effective solutions.

From alcohol to the Internet, drugs to digital devices, it is impossible to move through the modern world without encountering drivers of potentially destructive and addictive behaviour.

In our hyper-connected age, such behaviour is increasingly normalised – but many of us know from personal experience the havoc it causes to friends and loved ones. How can we effectively overcome the challenges of addiction – and help others do the same?

Dr Henrietta Bowden-Jones returns to the How To Academy with answers. An internationally recognised authority on behavioural addictions, impulsivity, decision-making and risk, a consultant psychiatrist and the founder of the NHS’s National Problem Gambling Clinic, she will draw on her decades of experience both at the forefront of medical science and as a skilled public communicator to offer guidance for those seeking to affect change to their own behaviour and those around them.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to engage with a pioneer in the scientific treatment of addictive behaviour in all its myriad forms.
