Join the rockstar philosopher and revolutionary Slavoj Žižek for a celebration of his life and thought. Expect dialectics, psychoanalysis, and jokes.
Erudite and comic, ironic and profound, philosopher Slavoj Žižek has travelled into territory where few of us dare to tread – and aged 75 he shows no signs of becoming less provocative.
In two very special live events, Slavoj will be joined on stage by Frankie Boyle in Edinburgh and Yanis Varoufakis in London. We’ll delve deep into his life story and intellectual journey. From his life and education in the former Yugoslavia under Soviet rule, where his master’s thesis was denounced by the authorities for being ‘not Marxist enough’ and he fought to democratise Slovenia and defend human rights, to his current position as one of the 21st century’s most renowned public intellectuals, this is a one-of-a-kind glimpse into the makings of the man widely known as ‘the most dangerous philosopher in the West’.
And we’ll hear his thoughts on the state of the world and our prospects for the future, including a preview of the ideas in his latest provocatively titled tome, Against Progress. What does he think about AI and the other new technologies of our age? Is there hope left for humankind in an age of impending climate catastrophe? And is progress really a good thing?
Discover the answer to all, some, or none of these questions from one of the most outrageous and maverick thinkers of our time.
Tickets to these events are half price for subscribers of How To +, and subscribers also receive free access to the livestreams.
