In this groundbreaking talk Matthew Walker, Professor of Neuroscience and Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley will unveil a new vision for sleep in the 21st century.

Drawing on two decades of new science and the findings from over 100 papers from his lab, Walker will demonstrate how sleeping less than 6 or 7 hours a night is demolishing our immune systems, doubling our risk of cancer, is a marker for Alzheimer’s, affects our psychological and emotional wellbeing, reproductive health, capacity for work, memory and creativity. Yet 39% of us in the UK sleep on average less than 7 hours a night and the number getting just 5-6 hours has risen dramatically in the last decade.

Walker will show us why we can no longer afford to neglect our need for sleep, and how we can transform society so we can all sleep our way to a better waking life.
